In this oral history, Dr. Diamond reflects on his early medical training in nephrology in Cape Town, South Africa, where he worked with some of the first dialysis technologies, and recounts his transition to Washington, D.C. in the early 1970s to help shape emerging dialysis and transplant programs. He also describes his involvement in forming the Renal Physicians Association (RPA) and traces how his early clinical experiences evolved into a lifelong focus on improving the quality and safety of patient care.
